The Mid-afternoon Thornbill Catches the Grub
I was taking an afternoon stroll a few days ago when a thornbill came over to say hello.
If you look carefully, he has a big grub down there at the base of the stick. The little fellow had caught it in the horse paddock and brought it up to the road where I was walking.
He then proceeded to kill the grub. How does such a tiny guy kill such a big grub? By swinging it around and banging it on the stick. How does he do that, when he is so small that he too would get thrown around when he swings the grub? Solution: grab that stick very hard so the momentum is transferred into the stick.
